Ronald Aycock, Exeeutive Director <br />DATE: July 12, 2000 <br />SUBJECT: Announcement of 1999-00 Wlnners <br /> <br />The Association would like to announce the winners of tho 1999-00 Ketner Rmployee Productivity Awards <br />Program. As you may recall~ Mr. Ralph Ketner, co-founder of Food Lion, Inc., donates $10,000 each year to <br />reward outshmdiag couaty employees for their successful productivity initiatives. This year marks the <br />Association's ninth year in organizing the pro,am to date, the program has attracted 789 project applications <br />representing over $71 million in savings to our counties. <br /> <br />Each year, the Association's president appoints two review committees made up of commissioners, managers, <br />county staff, and IOG representatives one committee considers applications from managerial staff and one <br />reviews those submitted by line staff. The review committees met on Thursday, Jane 28, 2000, to consider all <br />eligible applications for the 1999-00 Ketner Productivity Awards Program. Based on the committees' review, <br />the following county employees were selected as having submitted the best productivity enhancements: <br /> <br />Buncombe Joanna Isenhour Medicaid Case & Time Management System <br /> <br />'abarrus New Focus Committee New Focus- Diversion of Work First applicants <br />Cumberland Stacy Lewes Martin Advertising Cost Savings <br />Mecklenburg GIS Team GIS on the Internet <br />Onlsow William Nonis HI & Donna Card New Technology to Improve Ag Water Quality <br />Orange Nick Waters Paramedic Initial Response Program <br />Pitt Judy Caldwell, Donna Tripp, JoAnne Registration System to Avoid Contractor Fraud <br /> Burgdorff . . <br />Pitt Dee Boling ' ' Hurricane R~liefFunding Project <br />Rowan Rowan Criminal Justice Partnership Pretrial Services to Reduce Detainees <br /> <br />Yancey YCTA Team <br /> <br />Communicating with Hispanic Riders <br /> <br />Each employee or team of employees will receive $1,000 and a certificate ofreco~ition at the Second General <br />Session of the Association's Annual Conference in August 2000. To ensure that the local media is informed of <br />the employee's achievements, Association staff will also send press releases descn"oing the employee's <br />productivity initiative. <br /> <br />I want to thank all county employees who sent in productivity ideas in response to the Ralph W.
