Little, Director <br />Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />CabarrUs County Parks and Recreation 2000-2001 Recommended <br />Phase I Matching Incentive Grant Requests. <br /> <br />On August 24, 2000, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission <br />heard presentations from eight community groups requesting Cabarrus County <br />Matching Incentive Grant funds. The total of funds available, approved by the <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, is $100,000. The total requested <br />funds for Phase I is $92,991.50. The Parks and Recreation Commission <br />recommended to award $60,314.00 in Phase I Matching Incentive Grant funds to <br />seven organizations. The following projects or elements were eliminated from <br />their recommendations: <br /> <br />· Concord High School Booster Club - Soccer Field at High School- <br /> Eliminated $1,250 from request - maintenance items, such as fertilizing and <br /> reseeding, turf. <br />· Harrisburg Youth Association - Harrisburg School/Park Ballfields - Allowed <br /> substitution of benches and soccer goals in the place of maintenance <br /> equipment. <br />· Hartsell Youth League-W.W. Flowe Park- Eliminated $19,090 from request <br /> - maintenance equipment and concession equipment for concession building. <br />· Northeast Cabarrus Volunteer Fire Department- Eliminated $12,337.50 from <br /> request -Commission/staff determined this project is ineligible due to not <br /> being on County owned or leased property. <br /> <br />If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. <br /> <br /> <br />
