I CABARRUS COUITY ] <br /> NDIITH CARQllftA <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Members/Cabarms County Board of Commissioners <br />Mike Byrd/Planning Services ~V~'~> <br /> <br />DATE: October 10, 2000 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Extension of Transportation Service Contract <br /> <br />This is to request that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners extend the contract <br />with Laidlaw Transportation Services, Inc.. The requested extension period would be <br />from October 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001. <br /> <br />This extension period is based on the previous contracts, with the following stipulations: <br />1. The per-mile rate of billing will be $1.40/mile (current rate $1.15/mile) <br /> <br />2. Article II.G. of previous contracts (regarding County service with 3rd party vendors) <br /> will be removed. <br /> <br />3. Terms of the agreement will be October 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001 as stated above. <br /> <br />This extension will allow time for the County to prepare a revised Request for Proposal <br />package to send out early next year. The new Transportation Coordinator position has <br />been advertised, and interviews for the position will begin in the next few weeks. <br /> <br />One of the responsibilities .of this position will be analysis of the current transportation <br />system, and proposal for changes in the system operation, including changing contractors, <br />and in-house system operation. The approval of the extension will allow time for <br />analysis, and preparation for any changes in operation prior to July 1, 2001. <br /> <br />The party representative below acknowledges this extension: <br /> <br />Frank W.
