MEMORANDUM <br /> <br /> CA RUS <br /> <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />NO VEMBER AGENDA <br /> <br />TO: Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />DATE: November 13, 2000 <br /> <br />RE: Watershed Buffer <br /> (Former County Land - Lake Concord) <br /> <br />The County sold land on the northem shore of Lake Concord. A development company, Land <br />Craft Development, has constructed "Waterside Landing" subdivision on the property. To <br />ensure protection of water quality limits and to restrict public access to the lake, an agreement <br />with Land Craft has been reached. <br /> <br />A six-foot high chain link fence will be installed 30 feet from the high water mark along the lake <br />shoreline bordering the development. Concrete markers will be placed at 50 feet fi:om the <br />normal high water mark and landscaping will be installed to act as a further buffer. <br /> <br />Land Craft will mark the boundaries at 30 feet and 50 feet from the normal high water mark. <br />Land Craft will clear the fence line area for the fence installation and pay the $2.05 LF cost <br />differential for vinyl coated fencing. <br /> <br />The County will pay $10.38 (less $2.05) LF for six-foot chain link fencing installed along an <br />estimated 3,420 LF o'f shoreline. County costs are approximately $28,500. <br /> <br />The Board has previously discussed this issue and directed staff to take appropriate action to <br />protect the required watershed buffer along the Land Concord shoreline.
