N-t.rRSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMIRTEE <br />ADULT CAEE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COM2VIHTEE <br />APPO~ AN]) i(..-l'lVl'fll~ <br /> <br />VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br /> The Ntusk~ Home Conmamity Advisory C&mmiiIee 0~IHCAC) and the Adult Care Home Commmfity Advisory <br />- Committee (ACHCAC) serve the residents of lonE term care facilities within the counVy. The committees have <br /> leliislative authority to motor the Residents' Bin of Ril~a, promote connmmity involvement in the homes, <br /> provide public education on lone term 'care issues, assist residents in ~ievance resolution and promote elder <br /> abuse awareness. (O.S. 131 D-3I, O.S. 131 E-128) <br /> <br />NHCAC members are required to visit all matins homes once a quarter as a committee and are to visit <br />ind'.Mdually as often as posml~le. ACHCAC members are to vish Adult Care Homes quarterly, Family Care <br />Home and Group Homes for Developmentally .Dhabled Adults annuany as a committee with individual visits <br />beinE carried otn as often as possible. Bu_~ess meetinEs are held on a quanedy basis. TraininE <br />orientation will be provided by the North Carolina Division of A~o;~ throush the Regional Ombudsman <br />Program. Committee activities will{ involve mt least el_v. ht hours a <br /> <br />The initial training consist of reacrms materials, aItcndinE a training session conducted by the Resional <br />Omlm. a.,,,,,- Prosr~m and an in-facility orientation ~isit to each type of facilhy the co,,~ee member serves. ~ <br />a member does not complete the training and in-facility orientation within three months from the date oF <br />sppoinrment~ the County Commissioners will be asked tO replace, the Committee Member, <br /> <br />Members ,of these conunittees must reskle within the county thai the committee serves. They should attend <br />training sessions and be able W effectively communicate with the residents and ~ staff. All committee <br />members are appointed by the County Connnlssioners. One-third are to be nontinaled by ~ admin~h~tors. <br />Alt appointees shall' serve an initial one year term and then may be re-appointed to a subsequent term of two or <br />three years for ACHCAC and three years for NHCAC. <br /> <br />The ie~isiation requires that "no person or immediate fsmil~ member ora person with · f'mtncial interest <br />in a home served by the committee, or employee or governing bo·rd member or s home served by the <br />committee, or immediate rmnii~ member o£ · resident in · home served b~ the committee m~ be · <br />member of that committee". Immediate family is defined as mother, father, sister, brother, child, <br />grandmother and ~randfather as well ns in~hws. <br /> <br />Volunie~, serving on these committees are the ~inV between the facilMes and the community. Their work <br />ultimaIely remli in improving the qualhy of life for home residents. They .have the opportunity to meet a wide <br />variety of people as they carry out ~ responm'oilities.
