CABARRUS COUNTY <br />December 14, 2000 <br /> <br />2000 Holiday Tree Decorating Contest <br />Announcement of Contest Winners <br /> <br />Students from 8 Cabarrus County, 6 Kannapolis City Schools and one private school participated <br />in the ninth annual Holiday Tree Decorating Contest sponsored by Cabarrus County. The 15 <br />trees are on display in the lobby on the first floor of the Governmental Center. <br /> <br />Chief District Court Judge William G. Hamby, Jr. and District Court Judges Donna Johnson, <br />Michael Knox and Martin McGee judged the trees at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13. <br />The trees were judged on creativity, originality and overall appearance in three categories: <br />Elementary School, Middle School and High School. <br /> <br />First Place winners will receive $1,000; second place winners will receive $500; and third place <br />winners will receive $250. All prize money must be used for computer equipment or sofavare <br />that is included in the technology plan for the school. <br /> <br />The winners were as follows: <br /> <br />Elementary School <br />First Place <br />Second Place <br />Third Place <br /> <br />Mt.
