Clifton, Jr. <br /> <br />Date: January 12, 1999 <br /> <br />Creation of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council <br />(Replaces Community Based Alternatives Board) <br /> <br />During the 1998 session, the North Carolina Legislature approved The Juvenile Justice Reform Act. A <br />provision of The Act creates a local Juvenile Crime Prevention Council as a replacement for the <br />Community Based Alternatives (CBA) Board. <br /> <br />Membership of the JCP Council is similar but also expanded beyond that of the CBA Board. Creation of <br />the new JCP Council was to be effective January 1, 1999 and its responsibilities are parallel and an <br />expansion of the CBA Board. <br /> <br />Section 147-33.49 details thc membership of the Board and terms of appointment are to be for two-year <br />periods. A listing of carry-over members that have agreed to serve are attached.
