November 10, 1998 <br /> <br />Mr. John Day <br />Deputy Manager, Cabarrus County <br />PO Box 707 <br />Concord, NC 28026-0707 <br /> <br />Dear John: <br /> <br />In accordance with our garbage and disposal franchise agreement, we respectfully request a Consumer Price <br />Index (CP1) adjustment of 1.5°/0 (utilizing the September 1997 - September 1998 CPO to be effective <br />January 1, 1999. BFI's disposal rate to the County for residential waste would be increased from $27.00 per <br />ton to $27.41 per ton. In turn, the gate rate for residential garbage for Kannapolis, Mount Pleasant and <br />Harrisburg would be increased from $28.00 per ton to $28.41 per ton. We will notify the municipalities of <br />this increase. We will also be notififing the subscription residents by postcard which I will send for your <br />review prior to mailing. The new subscription rates for residential customers will increase from $10.00 to <br />$10.15 per cart, per month. As per our contract, additional carts for residences will increase from $7.50 per <br />cart to $7.61. Non-residential extra carts will be $10.1S per cart. <br /> <br />At the Drop-Off Site for Cabarrus residents at CMS, the rates will be as follows: <br /> <br />Cax: No charge (no change) <br />Car with Trailer: $28.41 per ton, minimum I ton <br />Pickup/Van: $10.15 <br />Pickup/Van with Trailer: $28.41 per ton, minimum 1 ton <br /> <br />We will continue to use good judgement by not charging residents who use pickups as their regular everyday <br />vehicles and bring in only one or two bags of ga~b~ge. <br /> <br />Cabarrus residents may still use the CMS/DO site for recyclables at no charge. <br /> <br />Under the separate agreement in which we provide the County 40-yard roll off rentals and hauling from the <br />Cabarrus Drop-off site to CMS, the rate will go from $27.00 per ton to $27.41 per ton. <br /> <br />All new rates will be effective January 1, 1999. <br /> <br />Please call me if you have questions or comments.
