Little, Director <br />Cabarms County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />Recommendation for Awarding a Landscape Architectural Services <br />Contract for North Cabarrus Park (Orphanage Road Site) <br /> <br />Enclosed ts a recommended contract for professional Landscape Architectural Services to <br />complete a preliminary Master Site Plan with alternate design schemes and construction <br />budget estimates for the proposed park site on Orphanage Road. As in Cabarrus <br />County's request for qualifications, the proposed park site is composed of two land tracts: <br />(1) the leased land from the City of Kannapolis (45 acres - dark green color on attached <br />map) and (2) the proposed leased land from the Church of God Children's Home (44 <br />acres - light blue/green color on attached map) for a total park site of 89 acres. <br /> <br />With a joint effort by representatives from the City of Kannapolis, Cabarms County and <br />Church of God Children's Home, a North Cabarms Park Steering Committee was <br />established to accomplish the following major tasks: (t) review the submitted eight <br />architectural firms and select three finalists for formal interviews, (2) conduct formal <br />interviews with three architectural firms and make a recommendation for one firm to be <br />hired for the North Cabarrus Park Site and (3) work jointly with the selected consultant <br />firm on the preliminary/final review and design of the proposed park. <br /> <br />Following is a list of the North Cabarms Park Steering Committee members: <br />(1) City of Kannapolis <br /> Greg McGinnis, Administrative Assistant to City Manager <br />(2) Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> Mike Phillips, Chair <br />(3) Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> Steve Little, Director <br />(4) Frank Lisle Park <br /> Randy Daniels, Park Supervisor <br />(5) Church of God Children's Home Representative <br /> James Griffin, Board Chairman <br /> <br /> <br />
