Good working relationship with the staff and facility administrators. <br /> <br />2. Strong commitment and dedication on the part of those active on the committee. <br /> <br />3. Good working relationship with regional Ombudsman. <br /> <br />4. Excellent rapport with residents and families during facility visits and follow up on concerns and issues. <br /> <br />5. Active in the community through other volunteer opportunities in churches and civic groups. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE CHALLENGES <br /> <br />1. Lack of enough committee members. Need for appointments in a timely manner who wish to be trained quickly and <br /> begm their duties. <br /> <br />2. Lack of participation of some committee members due to lack of commitment, lack of interest or time, or lack of <br /> experience. <br /> <br />3. Staff'mg turnover and lack of tr',fining in facilities. <br /> <br />4. Limited public awareness of the committee and their function. <br /> <br />5. Lack of awareness in the community about adult care homes. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE SUPPORT <br /> <br /> Committee members are trained and supported by the Ombudsman progran~ of the Centralina Council of Governments, <br />Area Agency on Aging, Region F. <br /> <br /> Local back-up support is provided by the Cabarrus County Senior Services Department.
