CABARRUS COUNTY

April 12, 1999

To'

From:

Subject:

Mr. John Day
Deputy Cabarrus County Manager

Mr. Steve Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department

Recommended Change Order for Dam Repairs Project at Frank Liske Park

Attached is a recommended change order from Mr. H. L. Moorefield, Jr., Project
Engineer for the Frank Liske Park Dam Repairs in the amount of $35,600 from Brown
Utility Company.

The following is a brief description of the recommended change order:

(1) Add 6 inch value in outlet structure
(will allow flexibility in lowering lake level for maintenance to lake, etc.) $ 600.00

(2) Grade, place filter fabric and place rip rap on 1,500 feet on lake shoreline/dam
(State of North Carolina Requirements) $ 35,000

The shoreline change order was anticipated by the staff and engineers; however, the
engineers could not determine actual damage to shoreline and the recommended repair
method. When water level of the lake was lowered the damage to the dam and shoreline
become measurable.

The six inch value will allow Cabarrus County to lower the water level for maintenance
or improvements to the lake.
