MARTHA SMITH
RETIREMENT

Martha Smith retired from the Cabarrus County Assessor's Office April 30, 1999. She
has a daughter, Robin S. Hartsell, and son-in-law, Steven W. Hartsell.

Martha began working for Cabarrus County in 1967 part time as a "list taker." She
eventually became a full-time employee with the Mapping Department. She worked
briefly in Real Estate Billing, and in 1990, moved to the Personal Property Division. In
30 years, Martha has met many people in Cabarrus County.

In talking with Martha, I asked her were there any specific accomplishments she would
like for me to mention. She said, "no, I just came to work every day and tried to do a
good job." That is an important accomplishment in itselfi

Martha is looking forward to spending time reading and walking. She is also an Atlanta
Braves fan and loves to watch baseball. She hopes to be able to travel with her sisters
and other family members. Martha has been a dependable employee for many years. We
congratulate her on her retirement and wish her many years of health and happiness.

Melia Miller
May 7, 1999
