Adams Creek Interceptor
201 Facility Plan Amendment

average flow of !.34 mgd equates to a peak flow of 5.0 mgd. The 30-inch
interceptor will be approximately 45 percent full (flow depth to pipe diameter)
under year 2020 peak flow conditions.

A map showing the proposed Adams Creek interceptor is presented irt Figure
4-1.

4.2 No Action

If the Adams Creek interceptor is not implemented, Mt. Pleasant will continue to
pump their existing flows into the Dutch Buffalo Creek basin. This will have two
impacts to facilities in the area.

The Dutch Buffalo parallel interceptor, currently planned for the year 2005,
will need to be constructed earlier than planned. Under current planning,
the interceptor will be relieved of the Adams Creek flows by year 2001.

The existing Summer Street, Pasture, and Food Lion pump stations will
need to remain in service. The Summer Street and Pasture pump stations
are in poor shape and are subject to failure. Failures can be expected to
result in overflows.

Impacts to the Adams Creek basin are numerous. The soils in the area are
proving to be poor for use in septic systems. Many applicants are turned down.
To serve the area, small package plants would need to be implemented as areas
develop. Additionally, the Mt. Pleasant High School WWTP will need to remain
in service.

CDM Camp Dresser & McKee ,--~_ ~ g

12
