Clifton, Jr./County Manager <br />FROM: Mike Byrd/Planning Services ~x,L.~3 <br />DATE: July 28, 1999 <br />SLrBJECT: Budget revision for purchase of County van with Grant funding <br /> <br />The County received three vans from NCDOT last fiscal year from a program providing <br />vehicles at a local match of 10% of the total cost. We were not able to acquire a fourth <br />van through this program prior to last fiscal year ending. As a result, our department had <br />an excess of $62,597.46 in this portion of our budget last year that was not expended. <br />This fourth vehicle is now available from NCDOT. <br /> <br />Attached is a request for a budget amendment in the amount of $32,000. This <br />amendment will allow the County to purchase a lift-equipped van through NCDOT grant <br />funding. <br /> <br />The State and Federal programs will provide 90% of the funding, and the County will <br />have to provide 10%, plus tax and tag fees. The total cost of the van is $29,278. The <br />breakdown of the funding is as follows: <br /> <br /> State/Federal share $26,350.20 <br />Local match $ 2,927.80 <br /> <br />Total $29,278.00 <br /> <br />The County has to pay the total cost at the time of purchase, and wilt be reimbursed the <br />90% in approximately 30 days.
