ICABARRUSCOU I

NORTH CAROLINA

August 2, 1999

To'

Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
Cabarrus County Manager
Cabarrus County Deputy Manager

From:

Mr. Steve Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department

Subject:

Request to State of North Carolina to exercise Cabarrus County's option to extend
Frank Liske Park lease.

This proposal is a letter from Cabarrus County to the State of North Carolina requesting to
exercise Cabarrus County's option to extend the Frank Liske Park lease until December 31,
2029, pursuant to the extension agreement. Mr. Tommy E. Cline, Real Property Agent for the
State of North Carolina, and Cabarrus County Attorney Fletcher Hartsell, have reviewed and
approved the draft letter from Cabarrus County to the State of North Carolina requesting this
extension. State officials informed us that the letter is the only item necessary to exercise this
extension to the lease agreement for Frank Liske Park.

Attached is a copy of the original lease agreement. On September 19, 1979, the State of North
Carolina approved the original twenty-five-year lease to Cabarrus County for Frank Liske Park.
Also attached is a copy of the amendment to the original lease, entered into on December 18,
1990. This amendment to the lease granted Cabarrus County an option to renew the lease for an
additional twenty-five-year term, with this term expiring on December 31, 2029. The attached
letter, when signed by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, will officially exercise this
option.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Thank you for
your cooperation concerning this matter.

Parks and Recreation Department

65 Church Street SE · P.O Box 707 · Concord, NC28026-0707 , 270~-) 758*9840
