2'78 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />Acme Turf Control Co., Inc. - Turf Improvements for Central District <br />($2,750.00 per fiscal year}, North D/strict ($3,550.08 per fiscal year), <br />Southwest District ($68,000.00 per fiscal year} <br /> <br />Road Petition - Addition of Deer Drive ~xhension to the State Road Svstmm <br /> <br /> U~ON MOTION Of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of Deer Drive <br />Extension (SR 2301 Extension} located in the Stallings Glen Subdivision to <br />the State Road system. <br /> <br />Approve1 ~un~ nfo tune of Pronl~tion Dssi~netina Au(~ast 13. ~999 l~ <br />%~zscarora Nation Day mn Cabarr~ls County <br /> <br /> D~ON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved nunc pro tunc the following <br />Proclamation. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Tuscarora Yarns, Inc. was established in 1899 and is <br />celebrating its 100th anniversary this year with a special celebration on <br />Au~st 13, 1999; and <br /> WHEREAS, Tuscarora Yarns, which produces a variety of yarns and is <br />committed to innovation and product excellence, is a vital part of Cabarrus <br />County; and <br /> WHEREAS, Tuscarora Yarns offers employment opportunities for the <br />citizens of the area and contributes greatly to the community through <br />participation in civic organizations and other community activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, Tuscarora is the name of an Indian Nation, whose members at <br />one time lived in North Carolina and whose remaining men~ers now reside in <br />western New York and southeast Ontario; and <br /> WHEREAS, mend~ers of the Tuscarora Indian Nation have traveled from New <br />York to Cabarrus County to participate in a variety of special programs and <br />events planned in celebration of the 100c~ anniversary of Tuscarora Yarns; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners desires to <br />congratulate Tuscarora Yarns on reaching its 100=~ year milestone and to <br />extend best wishes to the men,hers of the Tuscarora Indian Nation for a most <br />enjoyable and memorable visit to Cabarrus County. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jeffrey L. Barnhart, Chairman of the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioner, do hereby proclaim August 13, 1999 as <br /> TUSCARORA NATION DAY <br />in Cabarrus County in honor of the 100=" anniversary celebration of Tuscarora <br />Yarns, Inc. and in recognition of the members of the Tuscarora Indian Nation <br />who are visiting in Cabarrus County to join in the special activities <br />celebratin~ this historic occasion. <br /> This the 13zh day of August, 1999. <br /> <br />/s/ Jeffrey L. (AMC) ia changing the way the <br />citizens of Cabarrus County see movies; and <br /> WHEREAS, AMC Concord Mills 24 Theatres strives to make movtegoing an <br />optimal experience for the entire family by offering a wide range of movies <br />and viewing tim~s for everyone with 4,200 enhanced LoveSeat" stadium-style <br />seats, wall-to-wall screens and state-of-the-art sound by Sony Dynamic <br />Digital Sound. (SDDS,); and <br /> WHEREAS, AMC offers its facilities to the business community to rent <br />for seminars, training or meetings; to community groups for fuNd-raisers; and <br />to customers for birthday parties, through its VIP program; and <br /> WHEREAS, AMC seeks to enhance employment opportunities and economic <br />growth in Cabarrue County through AMC Concord Mills 24 Theatres, which will <br />create 160 full-time and part-time jobs; and <br /> WHEREAS, AMC values community involvement and will support Speedway <br />Children's Charities during its grand opening. <br /> <br /> <br />
