A RESOLUTION CONCERNING CLEAN NORTH CAROLINA 2000 INITIATIVE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is a need to improve the appearance of our roadsides by removing <br />litter, collapsing or nn,~afe structures and other debris that create eyesores and harm the <br />environment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a clean environment impacts economic development, travel and tourism <br />and the quality of life; and <br /> <br /> WltEREAS, in an effort to get North Carolinians to renew their sense of pride and <br />recommit to keeping our state clean the Governor has announced the Clean North Carolina 2000 <br />initiative; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Clean North Carolina 2000 initiative aims to improve the appearance of <br />North Carolina by removing litter and other debris from our roadsides, rivers, lakes and streams; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Clean North Carolina 2000 initiative aims to educate all citizens about the <br />harmful effects of litter; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there should be a partnership between the state and counties to clean up the <br />state. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the North Carolina Association of <br />County Commissioners endorses and supports the Clean North Carolina 2000 initiative. <br /> <br /> FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners urges each county government to support and coordinate efforts in it's county to <br />accomplish the aims of the Clean North Carolina 2000 initiative. <br /> <br />Adopted this 21~t day of August, 1999. <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />Robert Greer, President <br /> <br />NOTE: The Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution Endorsing the Clean <br /> North Carolina 2000 Initiative on June 21, 1999. <br /> <br /> <br />
