Box 707 ~oncord, NC 28026-0707 Dear Mr. Lagano: We have reviewed the preliminary plats for Ellenbrooke Subdivision on Old Airport Road and Booe/Untz Development off Shiloh Church. Road. The Ellenbrooke Subdivision is located in the W. M. Irvin Elementary School, Mt~ Pleasant Middle and High School attendance areas. W. M.iIrvin has a ' . capacity of 1000 students with an enrollment of 815. W~had projected this school to open with 753 students. However, the cap onlWgddington Hills has Lmpacted the enrollment at W. M. Irvin. Mt. Pleasant M/ddle School has a sore capacity of 750 and an enrollment of 720. The high school has a core capacity of 1000 with an enrollment of 952. We would expect both schools to ~xceed capacity before the end of the 1999-2000 school year due to the impact of capping. The addition of a 25 lot subd/vision in a school attendance area should have little impact; however, if.capping continues the middle and high school at Mt. Pleasant will not have sufficient space for additional growth. The Booe/Untz Development is located in the W. R. Odell Elementary School, Northwest Cabarrus Middle and High School attendance areas. All three of these schools are currently capped since they have exceeded their ror~ capacity. The core capacity at W. R. Odell is 864. The current ~nr)if~nent is 883. The core capacity for the middle school is 90~ with an ~nr~llment of 1153. The high school has a core capacity for 1500. The uur.:snt enrollment at the high school is 1500. The alternate school for W. R. Odell is Beverly Hills. Students moving into the area west of 1-85 and north of Davidson Highway are capped to Kannapolis.
