CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> Hurricane Floyd Relief Day <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Hurricane Floyd caused widespread devastation in eastern North Carolina <br />in September, 1999; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the record-high floodwaters of Hurricane Floyd forced tens of thousands of <br />people from their homes; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many people lost everything - their homes, their fmms, their businesses <br />and their loved ones; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been a generous outpouring of support from throughout North <br />Carolina to help the victims of Hurricane Floyd; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a long-temi recovery process is expected and citizens in eastern North <br />Carolina will continue to need assistance for many months as they work to rebuild their homes <br />and their lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a disaster relief collection site will be set up at the Cabarrus County <br />Fairgrounds on October 23, 1999 to accept donations of such items as baby products, cleaning <br />supplies and non-perishable food for the victims of Hurricane Floyd. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarms County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby proclaim Saturday, October 23, 1999, as <br /> <br />Hurricane Floyd Relief Day <br /> <br />in Cabarms County and urges all citizens to donate generously to help meet the needs of the <br />thousands of people of eastern North Carolina who have been affected by Hurricane Floyd and <br />the devastation it left behind. <br /> <br />Adopted this 18th day of October, 1999. <br /> <br />Chairman, Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br /> <br />
