Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department

Subject: Land Donation for Harrisburg School/Park

Attached is a proposed use agreement from Harrisburg Youth League agreeing to
purchase 1.7 acres for $41,320.00. Upon the landowner's request, the Harrisburg Youth League
has agreed to pay for the land over a five-year time frame. After this five-year period, the
Harrisburg Youth League plans to transfer or donate the land to the Cabarrus County Board of
Education.

This 1.7 acre land tract is critical to the construction of two of the four athletic fields (this
area is highlighted on the attached site plan). Without this land tract, a four field-complex cannot
be developed on the Harrisburg School/Park site. In the Fiscal Year 1999-2000 Budget, the
Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners funded $312,425.00 to provide Phase I funds for
construction of these four fields.

As you are aware, the current school site will be sold after the new school opens in
August 2000. The Harrisburg Youth League is the largest volunteer youth athletic program in
Cabarrus County. These facilities are designed to replace the current school/park facilities.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact me. I appreciate your
consideration concerning this matter.

£--/9
Parks and Recreation Department
6.5 '3:"'.~:::'- c-!:~et SE · P.O Bcx 7~.7 · Ccnc~r,d.
