The initial term was for the period <br />beginning December 1, 1999 and ending December 31, 2004 at a cost of <br />$15,000.00 per year. <br /> <br />ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT AGENDA FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Resolution Authorizin~ the Donation of Surplus Personal Property Items to <br />Local Governments in Baster~ North Carolina <br /> <br /> There was discussion regarding the proposed donation of surplus <br />property. The discussion centered on the method of distribution, possible <br />sale of the property with the money donated to the local governments, the <br />appropriateness of donating County property to charity, the possible need by <br />Cabarrus County citizens for the property and State law governing the <br />disposition of government property. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Casper, seconded by Commissioner Privette <br />with Commissioners Casper, Privette and Carpenter and Chairman Barnhart <br />voting for and Commissioner Fennel voting against, the Board adopted the <br />following Resolution. <br /> Resolution No. 1999-27 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF <br />SURPLUS PERSONAL PROPERTY ITEMS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County has possession of the items of personal <br />property listed on Exhibit A that are surplus to the needs of the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, many local governments in eastern North Carolina were <br />devastated by the floods from Hurricane Floyd and suffered extensive losses <br />of routine operating equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute 153A-176 and 160A-274 sets <br />forth authority for the sale, lease, or exchange of personal property between <br />governmental entities; and <br /> <br /> <br />
