Little, Director Cabarms County Parks and Recreation Department Re: 1998-99 Annual Report On behalf of the Cabarrus County Parks, Recreation and Property Maintenance Department, I would like to present the Annual Report for Fiscal Year 1998-99. The Annual Report will highlight the comprehensive parks and recreation programs offered to all residents of Cabarrus County by the Department. The role of the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department is to provide an umbrella of services and to meet the needs for facilities and programs which are not currently being provided by other agencies. In seeking the best method for providing comprehensive recreation program services to all residents of Cabarrus County, the basic approach is to coordinate to the extent possible all program services and to recognize the important role played by each agency to provide the best potential for service. Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department has close coordination between Concord Parks and Recreation Department, volunteer athletic organizations, Cabarms Arts Council, ARC, Department of Aging, David Murdock Senior Center, and many other sponsoring groups. The Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department has experienced a successful planning year for implementation of new parks/recreation improvements in Cabarrus County. Cabarrus County received a $250,000 N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant for development at W.W. Flowe Park. North Carolina Council of State approved a 25 year lease agreement with Cabarrus County for 39 acres adjacent to Frank Liske Park for a soccer complex. Cabarrus County, City of Kannapolis and Church of God Children's Home approved a lease agreement of 89 acres for the development of a park. The Parks and Recreation Department has improved the quality of 30- plus playgrounds and parks located at schools throughout the County. We wish to express our appreciation for the support and assistance given the department by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, Cabarrus County Manager, Deputy Manager, Cabarms County Parks and Recreation Commission and the public in general.
