Deputy County Manager for Admln£stratlon, presented the <br />Cabarrus County Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the year ended June 30. <br />1997. <br /> <br />Community Development Block Grant - Economic Development Application <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Commissioner Niblock and <br />unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, <br />December 29, 1997 to consider a Community Development Block Grant - Economic <br />Development application. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />Community Based Alternatives Task Force <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Chairman Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Ms. Janice W. Carry to the Community <br />Based Alternatives Task Force to complete a term ending June 30, 2000. <br /> <br />Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Casper, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, Board reappointed Ms. Katie Foster to the Adult Care Home <br />Community Advisory Committee for a three year term ending December 31, 2000. <br />Further, the Board appointed Mr. Bill Sullivan to the Committee for an initial <br />term of one year ending December 31, 1998. <br /> <br />Nursin~ Home Community Advisory Committee <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Casper, seconded by Commissioner Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried the Board reappointed Mr. Dale Goodrich and Mrs. Dolores <br />Parmer to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee for terms of three years <br />ending December 31, 2000. <br /> <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Chairman Casper opened the meeting for Informal Public Comments at 8:15 <br />P.M. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sherrill Laney thanked the Board for its action on December 4 to allow <br />the voters the opportunity to decide on the additional local sales tax and the <br />property transfer tax. He stressed the importance of good schools and a stable <br />property tax rate. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br /> The following items were included in the Reports section of the agenda: <br />(1) Local Sales and Use Tax Report for the quarter ending in September; and (2) <br />Letter from the Piedmont Farmers Market regarding the potential location of the <br />Cooperative Extension facility on property owned by the Farmers Market. <br /> <br />Recess of Meettn~ <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Casper <br />recessed the meeting at 8:20 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. on Monday, December 29, 1997. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
