David Bruton, M.D., Secretary {919) 733-3055 <br /> <br />December 1, 1997 <br /> <br />Dear County Director of Social Services: <br /> <br /> Re: Program Integrity Allocation <br /> <br /> As you know the General Assembly appropriated $2.5 million for the enhancement of <br />program integrity efforts in the counties. The primary purpose of the funding is to increase the <br />number of staff who perform program integrity duties. <br /> <br /> Counties should submit a plan by December 19, 1997, to Vicki Sutton, Assistant Chief <br />of Program Integrity outlining how the money will be used for this fiscal year and on a recurring <br />basis. These funds were appropriated to increase program integrity activities in the counties <br />and should not be used for existing county expenditures. If the money will not be used for new <br />staff, please provide an explanation as to why you feel you are sufficiently staffed in this area <br />and how you plan to use the money. <br /> <br />The plan should address the following items: <br /> <br />· What is your current program integrity effort? <br />· Use of money for fiscal years 1997-1998 and 1998-1999. <br />· Expected outcome. <br /> <br /> Upon receipt and approval of the plan, the Division will issue payment in the amount of <br />$25,000 per county.
