Their proposal
meets most of our concerns for cubicles and would meet the needs for the department.
Ms. Furr has been helpful to answer question and to offer suggestions as to the best office
layout. She also seems to have the backing of the manufacturer.

We will want to work with Ms. Furr on color selection, the layout options, and placement
of each of the two typicals selected by the department.

Our assessment of the three low bids from the local display and follow-up visits is largely
described in earlier memos. Basically, we can not accept the bid from Forms and Supplies
as it does not comply with specifications regarding cubicle size, work surface dimensions,
and panel height. The quality of cabinets was also not acceptable. As to MacThrift, we
understand the vendor has not been responsive in providing information required, and has
made proposals which do not conform to bid process requirements. With time as critical
an issue as it is, I do not feel comfortable in working with this vendor in view of the issues
with responsiveness that have been experienced. Please let me know if additional
information would be helpful.

Thank you for your help in this process.

Department of Social Services
?.O Box668 Concord, NC 28026 (704)786-7141
