Ashlyn, n M. Sides

Ashlynn Mauldin Sides began working at the Cabarrus County Depa~iment of
Social Services on June 7, 1976. She started out in Service Intake and
worked there for 8 ½ years. Then for 5 years she worked as an in'home
social worker providing services to elderly and disabled individuals in our
community. Al[er a reorganization at the agency, she once again worked in
Service Intake until April, 1991, when she started working with the Child
Day Care program for the agency. She has worked in this capacity ever
since.

In her job in Service Intake, Ms. Sides has been the first person that
individ~als see when they come to the agency, and they almost always lei~
with a favorable impression, as she always used her extensive knowledge and
skill to help them get through a crisis situation and secure needed services for
themselves or their loved ones.

In her day care position, she always worked very hard to keep a good
working relationship between the providers of quality child care and the
agency, and always helped mothers, who needed this service for their
children, understand what good day care was, and locate the center that best
met their needs.

Whether it's helping a family thrOugh a crisis situation, or counseling a young
mother about what quality day care involves, Ashlyma's knowledge, expertise
and ability to reach out to people in need will be greatly missed, not only by
those who know her at the agency, but also by those in the community who
have been the recipients of her help and kindness.
