RESOLUTION IN HONOR AND APPRECIATION OF <br /> <br />JUDGE CLARENCE E. HORTON JR. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Clarence E. Horton, Jr. was appointed to the North Carolina Court of <br />Appeals by Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. in December 1997, having served as District Court <br />Judge for the 19A Judicial District of the State of North Carolina since January 1981; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Horton served the citizens of this county as District Court Judge for <br />16 years in an exemplary manner, providing experience and sound judgment with unfailing <br />integrity, dignity and thoughtful reflection; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Horton is well-known in the community as a respected historian, <br />author and legal teacher; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Horton has consistently demonstrated the diligence and willingness <br />to devote himself fully to collecting and preserving the history of Cabarrus County for future <br />generations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Horton has endeavored to inspire interest and pride in our heritage <br />through his involvement with many special historical celebrations, serving as Co-Chair of the <br />Cabarms County Bicentennial Committee, organizing a year-long celebration in 1992, and as <br />Chair of the Concord Bicentennial Committee, organizing a month-long celebration in April <br />1996. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Judge Horton served as District Court Judge with devotion and distinction <br />and has offered his time and talents to many civic and community organizations, enriching us all. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners expresses deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to Judge Clarence E. ltorton, <br />Jr. for his distinguished and dedicated service to the citizens of Cabarrus County and extends <br />best wishes to him for continued success in all his future endeavors. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 18m day of May, 1998. <br /> <br />Sue B.
