For Immediate Release: <br /> <br />Stephen Lipscomb has been hired as the Public Information Coordinator for Cabarrus <br />County. He began work there on September 16th. <br /> <br />His primary duties include programming the Government Channel on Time Warner <br />Cable channel 25, providing information for the county's website and working with print <br />media. <br /> <br />Mr. Lipscomb has been in broadcasting for over twenty years. He comes to this position <br />from NBC Newschannel in Charlotte. During his tenure there he was a news writer, <br />videotape editor and most recently worked in satellite operations. Prior to NBC he <br />served as host and anchor for "Black College Sports Today" on ESPN. Some of his <br />previous positions include news director at WJMH radio in Greensboro, sports/public <br />information director at WKZL Winston Salem, and News/public affairs director for <br />WEAL radio in Greensboro. <br /> <br />Mr. Lipscomb says he:is looking forward to working with the people and agencies of <br />Cabarrus County. "I think that providing information to rosidents about their county <br />government is a great opportunity to help people. Many times the work of the <br />government is not held in the greatest of lights. It will be my job to show the many ways <br />that the Cabarms County government is simply in the business of helping people." <br /> <br />"We are very excited to have Stephen working with us. He comes to us highly <br />recommended and has a wealth of experience in broadcasting. We have high <br />expectations for the Government Channel and we are confident Stephen will meet them," <br />said Deputy County Manager John Day. <br /> <br />Mr. Lipscomb works in the Information Technology Services Department and reports to <br />ITS Systems Manager Debbie Brannan. "We went through a long, painstaking search to <br />fill this position; we are very pleased with the results," said Ms. Brannan. <br /> <br />Stephen has been a resident of Charlotte for the past seven years. He has three children, <br />Emmanuel, age 14, Ariel, 12 and Cheyenne, 8. Lipscomb is a member of the University <br />Church of Christ in Charlotte. He is active in thek sick and shut in program and various <br />other activities. <br /> <br />Mr. Lipscomb may be called at 704-788-8154. <br /> <br /> <br />
