Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau <br /> 200 West Avenue · Kannapolis, NC 28081-4335 <br /> <br /> FAX: 704.938.4576 EMAIL: info~cabarruscvb.com <br /> PHONE: 704.938.4550 · 800.848.3740 <br /> www. cabarruscvb.com <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECTS: <br /> <br />FRANK CLIFTON <br />MARK M, SHORE~ <br />NOVEMBER 5, 1998 <br /> <br />-PROPOSED LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENT <br />-CURRENT BOARDSEAT REAPPOINTMENTS <br />-VACANT BOARD SEAT <br /> <br />Revision <br /> <br />With the Direction of the Tourism Authority Board I am requesting the following actions to be <br />taken during the November 12 County Commission meeting: <br /> <br />APPROVE LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENT REVISIONS REGARDING <br />TOURISM AUTHORITY BOARD SEATS: <br /> When the Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce and the Kannapolis Chamber of Commerce <br /> merged on January 1 of this year, the legislation for Tourism Authority board seats <br /> became inaccurate as neither of those organizations legally exists now that there is a <br /> newly formed Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce. <br /> Attached is the recommendation of the Tourism Authority board for the revision to <br /> legislation regarding board seats. I believe it more closely conforms to NC Travel & <br /> Tourism Coalition guidelines. All existing appointees would finish out their terms. I am <br /> requesting approval by the County Commissioners. I will work with Fletcher Hartsell to <br /> make these changes in the next legislative session. <br /> <br />RE-APPOINT CURRENT BOARD MEMBERS: <br /> The following seats on the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board of Directors will <br /> expire on December 31, 1998. The Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board requests <br /> the re-appointment of the following members for a three-year term: <br /> <br />Mr. Stephen Prepst <br />Mr. Roger Haas <br /> <br />Seat #8 <br />Seat #9 <br /> <br />The following seats on the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board of Directors <br />expired on December 31, 1997 and were granted an extension until legislation could be <br />revised. The Cabarrus County Tourism Authority requests the re-appointment of the <br />following members for the remainder of a three year term starting December 31, 1997. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Clifton <br />Ms. Dottle Richards <br />Mr. Tom Dayvault <br /> <br />Seat CfA <br />Seat #5 <br />Seat #6 <br /> <br />FILL VACANT BOARD SEAT: <br /> The term for board seat #7 also expires 12/31/98. The Tourism Authority Board wishes to <br /> recommend Ms. Lynne Priestley for the seat. Ms. Priestley is the former Director of <br /> Marketing for the Charlotte Convention and Visitors Bureau and currently serves this <br /> community as the Director of Marketing for Concord Mills. It was the unanimous request <br /> of the Tourism Authority Board to request her appointment to this seat. <br /> <br /> <br />
