Flowe Park

In the fiscal budget 1997-98, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners approved
funding ($75,000) for the initial clearing, erosion control, grading, fine grading, storm drainage,
and turfing of the proposed athletic fields at W.W. Flowe Park. The plans are to utilize Cabarms
County Landfill/Property Maintenance equipment and employees in grounds clearing, rough
grading, fine grading and turfing of these proposed facilities. To date, Cabarms County has
completed the ground clearing and erosion control elements.

On October 29, 1998, Cabarms County Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed and
recommended a proposed North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Grant application for
W.W. Flowe Park. This proposed grant application is to construct a four baseball/softball and
two soccer field athletic complex at W.W. Flow Park. The recommended plan is to submit a
matching State of North Carolina Grant request for $250,000. The total project would be
$500,000. This matching state project can be budgeted in fiscal year 1999-2000. The following
are proposed elements for this project: athletic fencing, team benches/dugouts, bleachers, soccer
goals, athletic fields lighting, signage, landscaping, trails, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits,
picnic sites, restroom/concession building, gravel parking lot and public utilities.

Attached is the formal grant application/certification and proposed cost estimates for the
project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your
consideration and review of this proposed grant application.
