WORK PROGRAM <br /> FOR USE OF <br />STATE APPROPRIATION TO LROs <br />TO ASSIST LOCAl, GOVERNMENTS <br /> FY 1998-99 <br /> <br />Maintenance of a regional building permit tracking system involving ten North <br />Carolina counties located in the greater Charlotte area. All permitting <br />jurisdictions within these counties participate in this project. Jurisdictions <br />furnish Centralina with detailed permit information on a monthly basis. Key <br />statistical indicators collected include: type of permit, location of permit (by <br />Census Trae0, and construction value of development. Toffs dam is mapped and <br />analyzed to determine growth patterns and trends at the regional, county, and <br />sub-county level. This database was developed to assist with planning-related <br />projects (e.g., population projections, capital improvement needs, land <br />development plans, etc.) and is made available to both public and private sector. <br />A quarterly newsletter is published and distributed to interested parties in the <br />public and private sectors. <br /> <br />Centralina's Data Center maintains a depository library of Census and other <br />demographic and economic data available for use and distribution to the public <br />and private sectors. In its role as the Lead Regional Organization and affiliate <br />to the NC State Data Center, Centralina's Data Center collects and disseminates <br />data from a variety of sources, including the US Bureau of the Census, North <br />Carolina Employment Security Commission, NC Department of Public <br />Instruction, US Department of Labor, NC Department of Revenue, Federal <br />Reserve Board, and other various state and federal agencies. The data is <br />dispersed through standardized reports developed by Centralina, and through <br />client-driven specialized reports. The merging of Centralina's Data Center and <br />GIS Mapping into an Information Services Division allows Centralina to <br />respond to the needs of economic development eorporatinns through the <br />development of customized databases and graphic display of select statistical <br />indicators. Information Services is also able to respond to private sector needs <br />through developing statistical profiles of customer-defined market areas (i.e. <br />radius studies). <br /> <br />Funds will .be used to.put.together a second .I-485 .Regional Conference. The <br />theme of this year's conference will be to analyze projected land use patterns at <br />each of the thirty-four interchanges. <br /> <br />Funds will be used to conduct quarterly meetings of the region's planning <br />officials. <br /> <br />Funds will be used to write HOME Single Family Rehabilitation Grant <br />applications for member governments <br /> <br /> <br />
