Draft 12/16/98 <br /> <br />3. All employees involved in accidents where there are life <br /> threatening injuries or death, while perfmming their duties as a <br /> county employee. <br /> <br />4. Any employee when there is reasonable suspicion to believe that <br /> he or she violated the policy by observed actions or physical <br /> evidence while performing his/her duties as a county employee. <br /> Examples: Staggering, glassy-eyes, appears to be off in space <br /> when talking or working. <br /> <br />The County Manager or his or her designee shall require employees <br /> <br />holding Safety-Sensitive Positions (law enforcement officers {w/th <br />Sheriff's consent}, emergency medical technicians, any employee <br /> <br />operating a vehicle owned by the county or personal vehicle which is used <br />as a major part of their work (used frequently throughout most work days) <br />and all others designated by the County Manager) to submit to random <br />testing for the presence of alcohol and controlled substances. Employees <br />who have been determined to have violated this Policy will be terminated. <br /> <br />Testing Standards <br /> <br />The County will consider an employee (other than employees covered by DOT) <br />with a blood alcohol level of .06% or higher to be intoxicated and in violation of <br />this policy. Employees testing at .04% to .059% are deemed unfit to perform <br />their duties and will be sent home for the rest of the day without pay subject to <br /> <br /> <br />
