Clifton, Jr., County Manager <br /> <br />RE: BOC Work Session/Retreat <br /> <br />January 15, 1997 <br /> <br />Individually we have discussed the potential to hold a staff - BOC work session/retreat. There would be <br />benefit to providing an opportunity for the Board of Commissioners to discuss several important issues in <br />a comprehensive manner. There are also several areas of County government that the Board may want to <br />develop future direction for staff research and involvement. <br /> <br />There are four (4) elements for consideration if we are to pursue a Commission/Staffretreat. <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Time Allocation <br />(A) Do we attempt to do one full day or <br />(B) Try to span the retreat over a two-day period allowing for more time to consider <br /> various issues? <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Location <br />(A) Do we want to remain nearby for convenience or <br />03) Do we want to pursue another site (within one-two hours) so as to remove <br /> potential distractions for Commission members? <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Dates (Proposed Dates) <br />(A) One day sessions February 11, 14, 18, 19, 21 or 25 <br />03) One/one-half day - two day sessions <br /> February 14-15; February 18-19; or February 21-22 <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />Agenda <br />(A) Once dates and time available are established, an agenda will be developed. Board <br /> members are urged to offer topics they want discussed. <br />03) Significant Issues include: <br /> 1. How County services should be delivered in the future? <br /> 2. How will those County programs now funded with Federal and State dollars <br /> be impacted by funding cuts? <br /> 3. Program and facility issues related directly to the County's growth. <br /> 4.
