Whereas our well-being depends on the production of ample food, fiber and other <br />products of the soil; and <br /> <br />Whereas the quality and quantity of these products depends on the conservation, wise <br />use and proper management of soil and water resources; and <br /> <br />Whereas protection of our water from pollution depends on sound conservation . <br />practices; and <br /> <br />Whereas conservation districts provide a practical and democratic organization <br />through which landowners take the initiative to conserve and make proper use of these <br />resources; and <br /> <br />Whereas the conservation movement is carrying forward a program of soil and water <br />conservation in cooperation with numerous partners; <br /> <br />Therefore I, in full appreciation of the value of our soil and water to the public <br />welfare, and desiring to honor those who protect those resources, do hereby proclaim <br />April 26 through May 4, 1997 <br /> <br />Soil and Water Stewardship Week <br /> <br />In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of <br /> <br /> to be affixed. <br /> <br /> Signature ~ <br /> - <br /> <br /> <br />
