RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION <br />TO HAVE AN EQUAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE <br />AS THE KANNAPOLIS CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter l 15C, Section 38 of the North Carolina General Statutes provides that <br />the tax-levying authority for local school administrative units may fix the compensation and expense <br />allowances paid members of the boards of education of local school administrative units; and <br /> <br /> WI~EREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners is the tax-levying authority for <br />both the Cabarms County Board of Education and the Kannapolis City Board of Education; and <br /> <br /> WItE~REAS, the Board of Commissioners believes there should be equal compensation for <br />members of the Cabarrus County Board of Education and the Kannapolis City Board of Education; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners in a meeting on February 17, 1997 approved a <br />request by the Kannapolis City Board of Education to pay its members compensation and expense <br />allowances as follows: <br /> <br />Board Chair - $300.00 per month <br />Regular Board Member - $200.00 per month <br />Expense Reimbursement: <br /> <br />1. Reimbursement to board members for mileage while the board member's <br />vehicle is in use for official school business, including mileage to and from board <br />meetings and other school business related mileage in district and out of district; and <br /> <br />2. Reimbursement to board members for actual and reasonable expenses <br />including subsistence incurred while board members are performing official school <br />business, including but not limited to attendance at seminars and meetings. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby authorize the Cabarrus County Board of Education to have an equal <br />compensation package as the Kannapolis City Board of Education. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 21st day of April, 1997. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Sue Casper, Chair <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Frankie F.
