n:~.abanu$~mp~plan3 <br /> <br /> Part II. <br />LOCAL WASTE REDUCTION GOALS <br /> <br />According to the North Carolina 1995-1996 Solid Waste Annual Report, the <br />Cabarrus County Planning area has achieved a 4.63% per capita waste <br />reduction rate over the base year per capita rate for fiscal year 1991-1992. <br /> <br />The baseline year (FY 1991-92) disposal rate was 0.94 tons per capita (figure <br />provided by the N.C. Solid Waste Section). At this per capita disposal rate, <br />Cabarrus County would dispose of 113,234 tons in FY 2000-01 and 121,191 tons <br />in FY 2005-06 (see Table 4). <br /> <br />Table 4. Each entity agreed that it <br />was inappropriate to set a goal until the County decides on which waste <br />collection and disposal option will be used following the closure of the County <br />landfill in December, 1997.
