<br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and
<br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation.
<br />
<br />PROCLAMATION
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the County of Cabarrus on behalf of the people of
<br />North Carolina wishes to join the members of the A~nerican Society of
<br />Safety Engineers and other organizations in their annual observance
<br />of National Safety Month during June, 1997; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the theme for this observance is 'Safety: It's a Way
<br />of Life." This theme draws attention to the serious problem of
<br />safety awareness in the workplace, home and community. Ignoring
<br />safety rules contributes to accidents on- and off-the job, endangers
<br />the well-being of our families; undermines our education system, and
<br />raises the cost of doing business; and
<br />
<br /> WHERE,%S, according to statistics, when we promote safety
<br />awareness, we reduce employee injuries. Safety awareness nationwide
<br />helps fight this widespread problem through an effective combination
<br />of public education, intervention, rehabilitation and law
<br />enforcement.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Cabarrus County Commissioners, North
<br />Carolina, in conjunction with the American Society of Safety
<br />Engineers, do hereby proclaim the month of June as NaCional Sa£e~y
<br />Month in the County of Cabarrus and urge every individual to make
<br />extra precautions and become more safety conscious every day.
