369 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br /> UPON A~ENDED MOTION by Co~nfssioner 5arnhart, seconded by Commissioner <br />MilIs and unanimously carried, the 5oard moved to terminate the lease with <br />Cabarrus County Agricultural Fair, Inc. effective October 1, 1998 with the <br />possibility of going to a month-to-month lease thereafter and to appoint two <br />members of the Board of Commissioners to work with two Pair Board members <br />concerning the relocation of the Pair. <br /> <br />Department of Social Services - Authorization to Purchase Microcomputers and <br /> <br />Peripherals from State Contract <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Mills and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Department of Social Services to <br />purchase 55 new microcomputers, one server, four hubs and peripherals from State <br />contract utilizing a federal ~rant related to the SACWIS Automation Equipment <br />Purchase Option. <br /> <br />Proclamation - Adult Day Services Week in Cabarrus County (September 16-22, 1997) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner 5arnhart, seconded by Commissioner Mills and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />ADULT DAY SERVICE CENTERS WEEK <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />there are over 4,100 Adult Day Service Centers <br />nationwide and over 80 centers in North Carolina <br />providing a safe and positive environment to partially <br />disabled individuals in need of daytime assistance or <br />supervision; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />adult day service centers provide opportunities for <br />social interactions to otherwise isolated individuals <br />and assist them in attaining and maintaining a maximum <br />level of independence; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />these'centers are bridging the gap between long-term <br />institutionalization and independent living; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />adult day service centers provide respite and ease the <br />burden of the familial caregivers who are providing care <br />at home for their loved ones; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County is the home of L.I.F.E. CENTERS, INC., <br />a national model providing quality care in two locations <br />for this special population of older adults. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sue Casper, Chairman of the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners, by virtue of the power and authority vested <br />in me by the laws of the County, do hereby proclaim September 16-22, <br />1997 as: <br /> ADULT DAY SERVICES WEEK IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />and urge the citizens of Cabarrus County to recognize this event and <br />to participate by paying tribute to the dedicated people who provide <br />this valuable service to older adults. <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed <br />the official seal of the County of Cabarrus this 4th day of <br />September, 1997. <br /> /s/ Sue Casper <br /> Sue Oasper, Chair <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Casper <br />adjourned the meeting at 6:45 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
