WAC 8/7/97 <br /> <br />Checklist for maps and plats <br /> <br /> In reviewing a map or plat for recording, the review~ officer must <br />determine that the map meets the following statutory requirements: <br /> <br /> G.S. 47-30. <br />· Dimensions of 18 x 24, 21 x 30, 24 x 36 <br /> <br />· Material must be reproducible so that a legible copy can be made <br /> <br />· Title block, which shall contain the name of the owner <br /> <br />· Surveyor's certificate as to land use regblation coverage, one of five <br /> choices, <br /> <br />Surveyor's signature, seal, .and registration number and certificate, as <br />prescribed by G.S. 47-30(d), but a map prepared before Oct. 1, 1997, that <br />meets the signing and certification requirements of G.S. 47-30 at that time <br />can be recorded <br /> <br />Exemptions. The following maps are exempt from the requirements of 47- <br />30: maps prepared by a surveyor who is deceased at the time the map is <br />presented for recording; municipal boundary maps; annexation maps; maps <br />of highway rights of way; roadway corridor maps. <br /> <br />Maps attached to deeds must: 1) be prepared by a surveyor and contain the <br />surveyor's original signature and seal; 2) be a certified copy of a map <br />having an original signature and seal; or 3) contain the statement THIS <br />MAP IS NOT A CERTIFIED SURVEY AND NO RELIANCE MAY BE <br />PLACED IN ITS ACCURACY <br /> <br /> G.S. 39-32. 1. A plat of land subdivided for purposes of sale and on which <br />streets have been laid off must show control corners. <br /> <br /> G.S. 136-102.6. A plat that shows lots subdivided for sale on which there <br />is a new public street or a change in an existing public street must have the <br />approval of the local district engineer of the Division of Highways. <br /> <br /> G.S. 153A-332, '160A-373. In cities and counties with subdivision <br />ordinances, all subdivision plats must show planning agency approval before the <br />plats can be recorded. <br /> <br /> <br />
