Clifton, Jr., County Manager <br /> <br />RE: Assignment of Emergency Management Administrative Responsibility to the County Manager <br /> (Attached Ordinance) <br /> <br />As each of you are aware, at the staff.level we are pursuing evaluation of altematives related to the <br />County's Emergency Management functions. This evaluation has pointed to an administrative action <br />that needs to be addressed. <br /> <br />As currently written, County ordinances require that the County Commissioners "appoint" and (more <br />or less) are responsible for direct oversight of County employees working within this function. It is <br />probably more appropriate that these administrative responsibilities be assigned to the County <br />Manager. That action would place these County employees under the direct administration of the <br />County Manager (or his designee). <br /> <br />It is requested that you approve the attached ordinance so as to correct the current staff'reporting <br />relationship unless the Board of Commissioners desire to retain these direct administrative <br />responsibilities. <br /> <br />FWC/sb <br /> <br />Attachment <br /> <br /> Office of the County Manager <br /> <br />P.
