Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department

Subject:

Reorganization Proposal for the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation
Commission

On September 25, 1997, the Cabarms County Parks and Recreation Commission
reviewed and approved the Commission's Executive Committee reorganization proposal for the
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Commission. If approved by the Cabarms County Board
of Commissioners, this reorganization proposal would change the following:

1. Reduce the Commission from current eleven (11) members to nine (9) members.
2. Include two members from the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis Boards of Education (in
the event of a school board merger, the Kannapolis School Board position would be
converted into a township 4 position).
3. Allow three year terms with three members of the Commission having their terms expire
every three years. To allow for staggered three years terms, in January, 1998, .three of the
appointments would have only two year terms.
