Paid Public Notice

Cabarrus County 'Commissioners
consider, action' that could increase
your taxes by $1,267!*

Cab~rrus County Commissioners are meeting to consider a referendum
that could increase your taxes by $1,267'. They want to implement a
1% land transfer tax on the people of Cabarrus County.

What is a land transfer tax?
This tax would be paid every time real estate (commercial or residential) is
bought or sold. Contrary to popular belief, this tax is not a newcomer's tax. It
is paid by the seller at closin.q. On average, you would be forced to pay an
additional $1,267* when selling your home or land.

Why should you.oppose this tax?
This tax discriminates against Iow to middle income
property owners whose only investment is their
home. It imposes an undue hardship on young
couples attempting to buy their first home and
senior citizens selling a major financial investment.
Cabarrus County would suffer because it would be
difficult to attract businesses to our area as a result
of this tax.

Call your county commissioners today
and tell them you oppose this tax/

;ue Casper
Carolyn Carpenter
Jeff Barnhart
Franklin Niblock
Kenneth Mills
Frank Clifton {county manal~er)

phone: 782-5196
phone: 786-8656
phone: 888-0368
phone: 782-7866
phone: 783-0534
phone: 788-8100

Say "NO" to more taxes by attending the county
meeting November 17th, 6:30 p.m., at the Cabarrus
County Governmental Center!

*~1,267 based on 1% of avenge pd<~ of home ~alea In CabamJ= C~nty t~rough Ihe Carolina Mulliple Lis~ng
This me~a~e Ix'ought 1o you by lhe Central Cen:)~ina Assodalion of REALTORS~ and the NCAR Issues Mobilizalton Commlflee.
