Bonds <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC ~OMMENTS <br /> <br /> Chairman Casper opened the Informal Public Comments portion of the meeting <br />at 8:20 P.M. <br /> <br /> Ms. Marilyn Barnhardt of Wabash Lane stated a traffic signal was needed at <br />the intersection of Highway 73 West and Crisco Read. She expressed concern about <br />the hill on Highway 73 approaching the intersection and the danger to motorists. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hartsell reported on an earlier request to the Department of <br />Transportation for a traffic signal at that intersection. The Department <br />conducted a traffic study and, based on standard criteria, had installed flashing <br />signals at the intersection. However, Mr. Hartsell stated it was 'his <br />understanding that the Department of Transportation will conduct an on-going <br />study dealing with this issue. <br /> <br /> Ms. Norma V. Floyd of 5665 Highway 24-27, Midland, questioned the <br />designation of a commercial area at the intersection of Reed Gold Mine Road and <br />Highway 24/27 in the Midland Area Plan. <br /> <br /> Mr. Ross Morrison, III, of Hickory Ridge Road, Harrisburg, expressed <br />concerns about the sale of the Agricultural Building and the possibility of <br />renovating the Concord Middle School to house Cooperative Extension Services and <br />related agencies. <br /> <br /> Ms. Jo Coble stated the County property is centrally located and in her <br />opinion the Board will be making a mistake if it sells the 30 acres of land. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br />1996 Child Fatality Prevention Report Submitted by the Child Fatality Prevention <br />Team <br /> <br /> The 1996 Child Fatality Prevention Report submitted by the Child Fatality <br />Prevention Team was included in the Reports section of the agenda. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Ca~per <br />adjourned the meeting at 8:40 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
