Resolution No. 1997- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE APPOINTMENT OF <br />DAVID PROPST TO THE <br />NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF TRANSPORTATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Carolina Board of Transportation sets policy for the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation, develops the Transportation improvement Program, and approves <br />funding for aviation, public transportation, rail, bicycles, safety and highway maintenance and <br />construction programs statewide; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Carolina Board of Transportation consists of appointed members <br />from throughout the state; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the recent resignation of Mr. Carroll Edwards has created a vacancy for the <br />position serving Division 10, including Anson, Union, Cabarrus and Stanly counties; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County and its municipalities are experiencing rapid growth and <br />development of residential, commercial and industrial uses and it is important for the area to be <br />represented on the Board of Transportation by an individual who has first hand knowledge of the <br />transportation needs of this community and surrounding area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. David Propst is a resident of Cabarrus County, a person of the highest <br />integrity and character, and a well-respected businessman who would serve the residents of Cabarms <br />County, the citizens of Division 10 and the State of North Carolina in an exemplary manner as a <br />member of the Board of Transportation. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners unanimously endorses the appointment of Mr. David Propst as an at-large member <br />to the North Carolina Board of Transportation to serve the citizens of Division 10, including the <br />counties of Anson, Union, Stanly and Cabarrus. <br /> <br />Adopted this the 17th day of November, 1997. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Sue Casper, Chair <br />Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Frankie F.
