PROGRAM SUMMARY <br /> <br />Statement of the Problem: in concise terminology, describe the juvenile justice problem the program intends to address: <br /> <br />There continues to be a significant increase in juvenile crime. Sixty-five percent (65%) of the offenses committed by <br />jm'eniles cause victims to experience personal injury,, property damage and loss. Thc Juvenile Restitution Program aims <br />at addressing the problem of juveniles committing such offenses vdthout being held nccountabl¢ for doing so. This <br />problem, if left unattended, ail1 increase the prebability of the juvenile becoming a repeal offender, th. us contributing to <br />th,2 overall increase in juvenile crime. <br /> <br />Program Goul: &cie the effect that the program Js destgred to have on solving the £ro~.tem dc,:ct'~bed <br /> <br />To proAde an opportunity for juveniles to be held accountable for their behavior. Thc Juvenile Restitution Program is <br />designed to address this by having juveniles v, ork to earn restitution for their victims and/or perform uncompensated <br />community service. Another goal is to provide positive adult role models for the juveniles, as well as maintain a <br />reduction of recidivist delinquent acti,Aties by youth while participating in the Program. <br /> <br />Target Population: Describe the target population and the steps that the program has tale. en to insure that the target population i$ served. <br /> <br />Post-adjudioated juvenile offenders ages 10-16 who have been adjudicated on both violent and aon-violent offenses.
