The alignment of the Southern Corridor (recommended in the Thoroughfare Plan as a new major thoroughfare) should be shifted on the eastern portion, to intersect with the new alignment of the Northern Corridor. Due to the closeness of the railroad tracks and NC 49 at this point, it is recommended that an overpass be built for the Northern Corridor to pass over the railroad and NC 49. The road should then continue south- southwest to the major thoroughfare, Stallings Road (SR 1161), following as closely as possible the western property line of the Stallings Farm property as it approaches Stallings Road. It should cross Stallings Road and continue southwest to Hickory Ridge Road (SR1138), intersecting it about 0.1 mile south of bridge over Back Creek. The rest of the alignment, continuing to Tom Query Road, should remain the same as is shown on the current Thoroughfare Plan. The alignment of Pharr Mill Road (SR 1158) should be adjusted on the northernmost portion and the current roadway should be closed just south of the railroad tracks, at the intersection of Speedrail Court. Just north of the intersection with Mulberry Road, Pharr Mill Road should nm northeast towards NC 49, to meet the current aiignmem of Blackwelder Road. This n~w alignment should pass over NC 49 and the railroad tracks and also provide entrance/exit ramps to allow traffic to get to and from NC 49 and Blackwelder and Pharr Mill Roads.
