RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN UPDATE TO THE <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br /> <br />W~W~REA~, <br /> <br />by Executive Order, the Governor of North Carolina set forth directives whereby counties <br />that desired to receive state and/or federal funding assistance for transportation needs <br />would plan and coordinate the provision of human service transportation in their county <br />areas in order to achieve the most effective and efficient delivery of services; and <br /> <br />since that Executive Order, the ..Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners have adopted <br />and updated its Transportation Development Plan (TDP) for Cabarrus County to <br />coordinate and consolidate the provision of human service agency and specialized <br />transportation services for older adults and persons with disabilities; and <br /> <br />the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Public Transportation <br />Division requires that counties review and update their TDP documents every four years <br />to determine ff the TDP has been implemented as required in order to continue the <br />County's eliga'bility for state and/or federal funding assistance for its transportation <br />programs; and <br /> <br />in January 1995, the Board of Commissioners appointed a TDP Steering Committee to <br />participate ia the required planning process to update the County's TDP; and <br /> <br />this update to the TDP has been completed and has been reviewed and approved by the <br />NCDOT Public Transportation Division, and is attached hereto as Exh~it A; and <br /> <br />approval and implementation of this plan will improve the effectiveness of the <br />transportation delivery system in Cabarrus County and enable Cabarrus County to <br />continue its eligibility for state and/or federal funding assistance; and <br /> <br />WIt~REAS, <br /> <br />the Board feels that approval of this TDP update will be ia the best interests of the <br />cit~ens of Cabarrus County and to those agencies and organizations that contract for <br />services through the Cabarras County. transportation system. <br /> <br />NOW, TvrI~.REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus as <br />follows: <br /> <br />That the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners hereby adopts the Cabarrus County <br />Transportation Development Plan for FY95-96 to FY'98-99. <br /> <br />That the Board hereby directs its ex,ting advisory body, the Cabarrus Transportation <br />Advisory Board, to oversee the implementation of the TDP and to direct the development <br />of the Cabarrus County transportation system ia accordance with the adopted <br />Transportation Development Plan. <br /> <br />3.
