Barnhart
Chairman
Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
P. O. Box 707
Concord, N.C. 28027

Dear Mr. Barnhardt:

Please find enclosed a resolution passed unanimously by the Kannapolis City Schools
Board of Education on January 25, 1996, requesting that the Cabarrus County
Commissioners call for a school bond facilities referendum on May 7, 1996. Please place
this matter on your February 5 meeting agenda.

As you are aware, there is a great need for upgrading school facilities in both
Kaunapolis City Schools and Cabarrus County Schools. We are particularly concerned that
the referendum be set at the amounts requested by the two boards of education. These
amounts represent the critical needs for phase one of the ten-year facilities plans.

It is our belief that the people of Cabarrus County will vote favorably for the
referendum. We respectfully request that the Commissioners enthusiastically call for the
referendum at the amounts stated above and encourage Cabarrus citizens to vote to
approve the bonds.

Thank you very much for your consideration of the needs~of' the students ia
Kannapolis and Cabarrus County.

Sincerely yours,

Lee M.
