(1) <br /> <br />Impoundment and disposition of all animals coming into the animal <br />shelter or shelters. <br /> <br />(2) Bite cases, violations and complaints, and investigation of same. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />All moneys belonging to the county which were derived from <br />impoundment fees, penalties and license tags, and sales of <br />animals. <br /> <br />(4) Ail other records deemed necessary by the County Manager. <br /> <br />Section 4. Definitions. <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Animal: Every vertebrate nonhuman species of animal, wild or <br />domestic, male or female, including, but not limited to dogs, <br />cats, livestock, and other mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, <br />and fish. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Animal Control Officers: Persons properly appointed to pick up, <br />restrain, impound, sell or dispose of dogs, cats, or other animals <br />and who are responsible for discharging such other duties and <br />functions as may be prescribed by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners by this or any other county ordinance or by state <br />law, or pursuant to interlocal agreements executed pursuant to <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Animal Shelter: Any facility designated by the Cabarrus County <br />Board of Commissioners for the purpose of impounding and caring <br />for all animals found running at large or otherwise subject to <br />impounding in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance, <br />ordinances of Cabarrus County, or the General Statutes of North <br />Carolina. <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />Breeder: Any person or persons engaged in the commercial business <br />of breeding animals for sale. <br /> <br />(5) Cat: A domestic feline of either se~ over six (6) months of age. <br /> <br />(6) <br /> <br />County/City: cabarrus County exclusive of territory under the <br />jurisdiction of a municipality, except where the governing body of <br />the municipality has requested the county to provide animal <br />control within the municipality and has adopted the Cabarrus <br />County Animal Control Ordinance. <br /> <br />(7} <br /> <br />Day: For calculation of time passage, day shall be considered as <br />a regular workday, exclusive of Saturday, Sunday, and County <br />holidays. <br /> <br />(8) <br /> <br />Department: The Cabarrus County Animal Control Department, a <br />division of the Cabarrus County Sheriffs Department. <br /> <br />(9) Doq: A domestic canine of either sex over six (6) months of age. <br /> <br /> <br />
