STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />THE CABARRUS COUNTY CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS <br /> AND THE CABARRUS COUNTY SENIOR CENTER <br /> <br />The American Red Cross has a legal and moral responsibility to <br />provide assistance to the victims of disaster in this community <br />as set forth by U.S. Congress. The purpose of this agreement is <br />to provide the facilities for the mass sheltering of persons <br />during a disaster or for those who may need temporary housing as <br />a result of a disaster. <br /> <br />II. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AGREES: <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />1. To provide personnel for the supervision and operation of the <br /> shelter. <br />2. To train selected personnel with The Cabarrus County Senior <br /> Center in Mass Care as requested. <br />3. To identify the facility as an American Red Cross shelter <br /> when it is opened and remove all identification when the <br /> shelter is closed. <br />4. To replace or reimburse The Cabarrus County Senior Center for <br /> any food or other items used by the American Red Cross while <br /> the shelter is in operation. <br />5. To use only those designated areas agreed to at the time the <br /> shelter is opened. <br />6. To arrange for or reimburse The Cabarrus County Senior Center <br /> for cleaning the building when the shelter is closed. <br />7. To provide a list of American Red Cross officials authorized <br /> to request the opening of a shelter. (Attachment #1 contains <br /> the list of Red Cross personnel authorized to request the <br /> opening of a shelter.) <br /> <br />THE CABARRUS COUNTY SENIOR CENTER: <br /> <br />1. To permit, upon request of the American Red Cross, the use of <br /> The Cabarrus County Senior Center as a disaster shelter. <br />2. To designate staff members to represent The Cabarrus County <br /> Senior Center as shelter staff is desired. <br />3. To open the shelter day or night when requested by the <br /> American Red Cross official. <br /> <br /> <br />
